one of the strongest songs on the album and the saddest

it's amazing but it breaks my heart, which is why I think I will only be able to listen to it at certain times

I have been in the position David wrote about in My Child. DAMN what a flood of memories. On top of that, being formerly from the medical community, I dealt with expecting parents, and when things went bad, so, um..... speechless here

what's even sadder is that the song starts with a baby cry and a heartbeat and it ends with the sound of when the medical machine flatlines

Possibly one of the most emotional and saddest songs they've done. Can't think of any sadder ones.

It's going to be so hard to listen to this song... it's like David stuck his hand in my chest and pulled out my heart. And that's just from reading the lyrics and reading about how the song begins and ends. I'd probably still feel like this even if I had never gone thru it myself years ago. You don't hear much about how the potential fathers feel when this happens to the woman they love... there are lots of "what ifs" on both sides, I'm sure. I hear anguish in just reading the lyrics. I think this is part of the reason I don't want to download the leaked copy of the album. I'm not ready to hear this quite yet.

It's very emotional. It's not exactly a ballad or anything, I mean this is Disturbed we're talking about haha.

But there are parts where there's so much emotion and it's definitely really sad, some slower parts...

One of my favorite songs on the album :)

Well... I bit the bullet and listened to this when I got the CD yesterday. I was on campus between classes when it came up...

I ended up in the ladies' room in the building where I spend most of my time, hiding in a stall crying my eyes out. Fortunately, there was no one else in there at the time.

This is a good song, that much was clear to me. I just can't listen to it as much as I will the other songs because of the effect it has on me. If I could get through Facade on Indestructible, I can get through this...eventually.

i think they lyrics are "to change a phase in my life..." not "face".

These lyrics are not the right ones. The CDs out read those lyrics and put them on here. David doesn't say even one curse word in this album so please put the right lyrics up.

You can really hear the emotion in David's voice, especially towards the end of the song. It sounds like he's choking up a little bit...unless I'm just imagining things, haha.

When he screams "MY CHILD!" it sounds like he's about to break down.

Everybody seems to like this song, but my friend who is a big fan of Disturbed says this sucks. It makes me want to listen to this song so much...

Granted, it's hard to listen to, but it's a wonderful, heartfelt, and emotionally charged song. Maybe your friend has not been through a emotional experience similar to this and doesn't understand why it belongs on this album. He's entitled to his opinion. The rest of us, obviously, don't agree.

People who've gone through tough roads I think will find this song comforting. Those who haven't...well...they'll get a song that's going to hit them right in the chest someday.

It's very heartbreaking, if it's not then you might be a sociopath. Even if you've never (I hope I nor anyone else would) near a tragedy like this, if you've ever had a pet die or even an idea that you've put your heart and soul into die, than you can relate to this song. How beautiful and surreal is it to have a song set in a hospital room as the narrator watches it's child (let alone any life) die.

My favorite on the album. Its so emotionally driven that it still gives my shudders after the 30th or so time of hearing it

This song became my favorite. The emotion that Draiman put into these lyrics...you can tell this messed him up bad.
