"Mine" Lyrics

'Ey! (x6)

Been watching for a long time, seeing the world drawing closer to the edge of calamity
How many of the wars have started over mankind's opiate we call religion?
Too many of my children have died in the never ending fight for territory

Are we born to violence?
Can we stop in time?
They say you were warned to remain on your side
You'll be starting a war now if you cross that line
Turn around or face my reprisal for I have determined that this is mine

'Ey! (x6)

Been hurting for a long time feeling my heart torn open from the lack of humanity
Insanity on both sides paving the path that guarantees our own extinction
Hate added to the stockpile filling the world with enemies, a constant battle

In the face of violence, they emit their cry
They say you were warned to remain on your side
You'll be starting a war now if you cross that line
Turn around or face my reprisal for I have determined that this is mine

Ooooohhhhhh (x2)

You were warned to remain on your side
You'll be starting a war now if you cross that line
Turn around and face my reprisal for I have determined that this is mine

We will not be broken this time
We will force the whole world to testify
Stand your ground or face our reprisal for we have determined that this is...

So this is the song that David described last year before Asylum came out that was about religion as a catalyst for war...

Awesome lyrics! But I'm still going to wait until next week to listen to it.

That was awesome! It makes a lot of sense too. I just wonder how the band feels about the leak.

PS... 2nd Verse- "Insanity on both sides (reaping)? the path that guarantees our own extinction" the word is reaping

this song is totally different from what Disturbed has ever done. Now I know why it's remained a b-side for so many years. It rocks the fuck out thats for sure. ohh and whoever has that link, PM it to me please. and I believe the lyric to the first stanza is "mandkind's opium we call religion" not area.

Thanks for the lyrics! This song has enormous power in it, seeing the lyrics and hearing how Draiman pronounces them. This song has rly good sound in it but too bad it's the same sound pretty much the whole song.
Anyways, fills my expectations, an excellent song !!!!

Here's what I got. I figured this first without looking at what you already had (wanted a different perspective), but then I used yours to try and give me thoughts on what the parts I couldn't hear were. I think it worked pretty well. Without further adieu:

Been watching for a long time
Seeing the world drawing closer
To the edge of calamity
How many of our wars have
Started over mankind’s opiate
We call religion?
Too many of my children have died
In the never-ending fight for territory
Are we born to violence?
Can we stop in time?

They say you were warned to remain on your side
You will be starting a war now if you cross that line
Turn around or face my reprisal
For I have determined that this is mine

Been hurting for a long time
Feeling my heart torn open
From the of lack of humanity
Insanity on both sides
Picking the path that
Guarantees our own extinction
Hate added to the stockpile
Filling the world with enemies
A constant battle
In the face of violence
They omit their cry

They say you were warned to remain on your side
You will be starting a war now if you cross that line
Turn around or face my reprisal
For I have determined that this is mine

You were warned to remain on your side
You’ll be starting a war now if you cross that line
Turn around or face my reprisal
For I have determined that this is mine
We will not be broken this time
We will force the whole world to testify
Stand your ground or face our reprisal
For we have determined that this is

Hey guys, sorry I've not had the chance to check the lyrics out and stuff, been busy with work and college, and I currently have flu. When I'm feeling up to it, I'll double check the lyrics and your contributions =)

I've made some edits and I'm fairly sure that my above lyrics are pretty much 100% correct. There is one part I'm fuzzy about - at the end of the second verse, I'm not entirely convinced that he says "They omit their cry". I can hear cry in there fairly well, but omit is the word that seems a bit sketchy to me. But other than that spot, I'm pretty convinced my lyrics are nearly 100% correct. You should put them in your OP and somebody should Tweet to David and ask if they're correct.

Im positive the lyric is "mankinds opium we call religion" not area, or opiate. Marx's quote "religion is the opium of the masses" fits that lyircs.

I think it's opiate based solely on the fact that I hear a faint T in there, and opiate and opium are close synonyms. It really could be either and it wouldn't change the song. I just think opiate sounds more hard-hitting in this particular staccato delivery, and that's my grounds for assuming it's probably opiate.

I think somebody just needs to tweet to David to lyrics and ask or just ask about the words we're unsure of. I'm sure he'd answer them.

He probably would, but I don't have a Twitter (or else I would have asked by now). Perhaps I'll sign up for one this weekend.

I don't think D1's got correct lyrics up. Some (like Hell) look like they've been outright copy/pasted from an external lyrics site. Some contain massive spelling or grammatical errors (and David is a smart guy, so they're not his). Also, the lyrics for "A Welcome Burden" directly contradict the ones given in the lyric booklet for 2010's The Sickness reprint. One specific instance: D1's lyrics say "The rape of the mother is the loving I need", but the lyrics booklet says "The rape of the mother is bloody likely". I think I'm just gonna assume the D1 lyrics are wrong for some songs... They just don't sound right, they look unprofessionally-written, and I'll stick with this belief until someone asks David about this via Twitter.

Also:

"I wont stand another minute of your questioning me
You hear me Bitch are the interrogations of her
I can’t handle the feeling of your pestering me
How would you like to meet my favorite fist?
No you can’t rethink
I’d love to see you think I’m
Dream this moment as you run away
You will know me separate me from what I believe
This moment in brutality
You’re the one who kept on pushing till I made you bleed"

That's really all I have to say. No way David would write lyrics that made that little grammatical sense. Sorry, but he's smarter than that. "No you can't rethink, I'd love to see you think I'm dream this moment, as you run away. You will know me, separate me from what I believe this moment, in brutality". It just SHOUTS "Not David's!"

ridiculous. even when I first started listening to Disturbed, I knew that the lyrics were:

"I won't stand another minute
Of your questioning me
You hear me, bitch, stop
The interrogations over
I can't handle the feeling
Of your pestering me
How would you like
To meet my favorite fist

No you can't renege
I love to see you beg"

I found this: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Notice how it's identical to this: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Whoever's in charge of D1 got lazy and posted unofficial, incorrect lyrics. That's annoying.

Someone asked David about it on twitter. he said he'd check it when he and Lena got home from their honeymoon in two weeks.
