Disturbed wouldn't be Disturbed without Mikey or Dan either. We know
what they are without John. They're still Disturbed, though, he was a nice addition.

Oh god.....without David...dude Davids vocals put them on the music map..no one can match to Davids vocals.

Without David, Dan or Mike, the band would probably fail...the worst without David though...

Dan and Mike are the heart of the band, but David is the essence of Disturbed, without Dan and Mike, Disturbed wouldn't have their original sound that makes them great, without David, they wouldn't be Disturbed, so really, Disturbed wouldn't be the same without any of its members. As for John, it's a good thing they were able to get such a good bassist after the unfortunate events that led up to Fuzz being forced to resign, had they gotten a bassist who couldn't easily blend with their style, thing would've made a turn for the worse, so again, Disturbed is Disturbed because of a full contribution of all the members, they couldn't really afford to lose any of them

I think David makes them who they are. He has an original voice that stands out from the rest of the endless crap thats out there. But if Mike or Dan were to leave, there would definitely be a big change in sound, but it wouldn't be as dramatic if David were to leave. There's some difference between Fuzz and John...I kinda prefer Fuzz since it seems like his bass playing stood out from the song like in Breathe or Devour while John's playing blends into the songs, but I prolly don't know what I'm talking about...

fuzz was better in terms of creativity you could hear fuzz playing when i hear new disturbed songs with john hes dosent stand out good enough as a bassist but hes has no x factor

John Moyer is a critical factor to the band
whether you like it or not, you can hear his tuff being played, just its supposed to add a bar of epic, not be ehard over the guitar or vocals

Without David, I have no doubt that Dan, Mike, and John could go on in the industry and continue to have great careers, they are all badass. They just couldn't do it as Disturbed. It would have to be an entirely different band. David is the essential ingredient in the Disturbed formula. When he came in, the other guys had a different name. David brought in the new name as well as the mood and the direction of the band. He's not just the voice, he's the words and the philosophy as well. Changing that would change everything and they'd have to have a new name.

That being said, I really don't think Dan or Mike could be replaced either. No disrespect to Fuzz or John, but I really don't notice bass much at all, for any band. I tend to focus on riffs and lyrics more than anything else and I'm not very good at isolating the bass from the lead. What I love about John though is he is a total sweetheart (not like the others aren't, 'cos they are) and he has great energy that meshes well with the energy of the others. He's a good balancer.

It's a tough call really, the entire band just fits together so well energy-wise, goal-wise, etc. It would be beyond bizarre to see them split up and form different bands. They have such a great thing and they know it too.

I don't like threads like this I think if we lost either of the 4, Disturbed is screwed, I don't think they can afford another change of style (even though we got lucky with john). We change style again and that'll be risky...

Yeah thats true dude.

Disturbed is a close band, so if any member left (besides John Moyer, cause Disturbed's seems unphased by losing bass players) the band would be done.

This is another matter of gestaltism - the sum of the components not being equal to the whole. Each of the members of Disturbed are unique, individual, are very skilled and could probably have become successful on their own, but it's when the entire thing is put together... Then you get that amazing unmatched power that is Disturbed. And that cannot be duplicated any other way. Someone quits, you replace them, the band can still be successful but it will have changed. The sum of the components has changed. It can be just as good, but since Disturbed was the prototype it will never be better... It's the mix of ideas and individual talent from all of the members that makes Disturbed what it is.
