DISTURBED frontman David Draiman recently spoke out on the speculation regarding the band's future, which he himself started in July when he hinted that the group's current tour could be its last for a while — if not for good. Draiman confirmed to The Pulse Of Radio that DISTURBED plans to take an indefinite hiatus, and gave some hints about the "personal reasons" behind the decision. "Many of those reasons are have to do with the state of the music industry in general and, you know, the demise of hard rock and heavy metal right now, and I think it's just a good time for DISTURBED, after 10 to 12 years straight of touring, to go away for a little while and kind of wait for the phoenix to rise from the ashes here," he said. "It's frightening times right now, and it's just a good time for us to go away."

But Draiman also admitted that DISTURBED may in fact never come back. "It could be a concern," he said. "You don't know. We don't know. I can't definitively tell you one way or the other at this point. We really haven't gotten that far in our discussions. We all agree that we are going to step away for an indefinite period of time."

Draiman told Billboard that one thing the hiatus is not about is any personal strife between the four band members, saying, "This is really not due to any animosity — I want to make that very clear. In fact, we just had dinner together last night. Believe me, it's not like we can't work with each other anymore or we don't get along."

The singer said that all four members of the group have other creative endeavors they'd like to pursue, with both he and guitarist Dan Donegan interested in producing other acts.

Draiman added that he doesn't think a solo album is in his future. But he also told Billboard, "Depending on how far those individual interests end up taking us, and depending on how much we end up missing (the band) over the course of time — which, of course, at some point I'm sure we will — that will determine if and when we return."

I have found this to be a big shock to me and others too! man Disturbed we really need you to keep Hard Rock & Heavy Metal alive Please!

they signed for a 6th album this was after he said that i know david has felt in the past when on tour very lonely and the band members too away from the family's it came to a point where they needed to step away for awhile for them self s and when you feel like that frustrated constantly doing the same thing none stop for 10 to 12 straight its a no brainier that they wanna break but like i said before they are signed for a 6th album they will return why cause they are under contract

They will be back. We're just gonna have to get used to Disturbed not being in the limelight for several years. The only thing we can do is get used to it. Their names were made household on just their first album, they aren't going to let Disturbed fade away. Look at Metallica, they are old as dirt and still kicking. Plain and simple, they are on hiatus, this means they don't make any noise in the music world for a while. This is old news.

Yeah you guys are right, but there is fact that David said that bothers me that "Disturbed May never come back" because of He and Dan wants to presue some kind of music approach he said in that interview whlie Mike & John do things too, David says No Solo Carrer won't happened but him & Dan I heard might start making a new band as the founding members, I really hate bands like Disturbed & slipknot going on hiatus because of what we or Media press say, I hope that David & the guys just get shit together and get back at being in Disturbed, We need Disturbed to destroy Pop/Hip Hop/Rap out the window ans say fuck you basturds to hell! but that will never happened because of record companys tell them not too or lose their contracts, well I will take my chances and say fuck you too! Disturbed should have signed with roadrunner records they get bands like Dream Theater & Killswitch Engage promted big time! I hope Disturbed can come back in 3 years time and start kicking some big time ass after their new contract is up with WB, bet ya they will because we are DISTURBED FOR ETENRITY! THANK YOU!

"him & Dan I heard might start making a new band as the founding members"

i don't know where u heard that, but i am absolutely certain it's a false rumour

if it were true, David would've said something on twitter and/or we would've heard that by now

in addition, the interview you posted is an older one, it's not new. We already knew that and don't worry, David tends to get a little dramatic sometimes.

I was reading about a rumor Warner Bros. Records Giving Up On Rock Music and Warner Music is laying off some of the Staff and a few A&R Reps...so the guys take a long break...they come back fresh and ready and do one last Album with Warner....BUT IT'S NOT WARNER MUSIC ANYMORE!Reprise senior vice president of promotion Mike Rittberg said it all in a goodbye Email. Now I'm kinda interested where this going to go When Disturbed will have finalization of their contract....oh the legality of it all...I hated Warner Music for many years anyway.

help me understand

does that nullify their contract?
or the contract is still valid but it's going to come out under a different name than WB?

I'm wondering all this myself!Warner Music was purchased by Len Blavantnik's Access Industries and Stephen Cooper was newly appointed CEO. Upon leaving, the long-time staff member Mike Rittberg sent out inspirational emails to the staff...But all in all it was a tearful Goodbye Email on his behalf....so this might mean all changes in the game with existing contracts with Reprise/Warner Music...this concerns me a little about Disturbeds Recess and how the band is dealing with their own contract.

Maybe things at Warners should have a chance to settle down before we start speculating on Disturbed's future with them. Reprise is supposed to be allowed to do what its always done, and that's deal with the acts they currently have.

I still think that David and Dan should spin off Intoxication into its own label, IF it's a feasible option at this point in time; or at least, find a new home for their label other than Warner/Reprise...

Just my US $.02

So I'm thinking "The Lost Children" will be the last Album with Reprise/Warner!? David in a interview said "we have a contract to do one more album" I'm just guessing but to me it might be David and the guys way of saying this is it....we shall see in the future I guess.

I thought this was already discussed, and they will have an actual album released later. Maybe I missunderstood this elsewhere though.

David already said in Twitter that the "one more contract album" was not the lost children. It's a new album but they do not know if or when it will come to pass.

^ That's what I understood. What I think that Dawn is getting at is that there are some things going on internally with Warner. People are being fired and they seem to be giving up in rock and metal. Disturbed isn't the only band in jeopardy because of this. I know that Avenged Sevenfold and a few others are signed with Warner as well. This mess with Warner could spell big trouble for these bands' futures

Warner isn't the only label out there. There are too many big names in the rock and metal genre for Warner to shit on them. If Warner doesn't want them, someone else will pick them up. No worries.

i want them to be signed with someone else that's my view warner been fucking over fans for years im not surprised that they havent gone to every show and pulled the big billboards out of the hands of the fans just for having the name disturbed on it plus they keep pulling feeds on live shows not just once quit a few times im no fan of them but your over looking one thing they are now under contract for another album plus tour thats maybe 2 or 3 years they gotta give the label

Well, David just changed his mind... The "one more contract album" is now counted as the lost children. GuiltyPleasures asked: is 6th album band is signed for Lost Children, or one of new material? David replied: B SIDES

and a lyric booklet doesnt look likely.

Yes...this is what I was trying to say!I was not trying to be conclusive since Management and The Band should announce it their way. I was giving everyone a hint of what was happening with Reprise/Warner and how the new ownership is handling things...Last Album with Reprise/Warner "The Lost Children"...and ending contract.

I'm sure that they'll be back... I asked David yesterday if the B side release meant that they were free agents when they come back and he said no.

These words are from David in an article and read it carefully...it's what I been posting about Reprise/Warner...David and the guys are pretty fed up with Warner..Don't worry so much.. Roadrunner Records are out there and my partner knows the CEO and he's pretty Cool Guy and also Epitaph Records...that Label is also pretty cool too! Life will go on without The dysfunctional Warner Music....give it some time for the band and their Manager to find a new "Home"...so now read this.

“The state of the music industry is very apparent to everyone,” he says. “I’m not enlightening anyone by saying that it is in a state of decline. I’m not enlightening anyone by saying it is in a state of reformation and it needs to figure itself out again. It’s just a very difficult time to function as a musician within the music industry when personnel are lost left and right and people you’ve counted on for years are suddenly cast by the wayside. People are much more concerned with how the company looks on a balance sheet to a potential buyer as opposed to concerning themselves primarily with things like artist development. That’s definitely a factor in why we chose to do this indefinite hiatus now. If things were gangbusters in the industry it would be much more difficult to turn away for a little while and concentrate on other things we’d like to do. It would be cutting off our nose to spite our face. Where things go with any of us in our own individual projects during this hiatus will determine how long it lasts or if it is, in fact, indefinite.”
