I was checking out David's twitter page and he goes off an a guy about an article where he was misquoted. Here is the string of tweets! Mind you... I'm posting these as one tweet though they are a string like 15+ in the rant.

@DAVIDMDRAIMAN: THANK GOD FOR TWITTER. IT FINALLY GIVES US A FORUM TO DEAL WITH RUMORS, FALLACIES, AND OTHER ASST BULLSHIT.... I WAS MISQUOTED IN THIS ARTICLE. THE "DEMISE" OF HARD ROCK AND HEAVY METAL THAT I WAS REFERRING TO WAS THAT THE GENRE IS ALWAYS- IGNORED BY THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA. EVEN THOUGH FESTIVALS LIKE MAYHEM STILL PLAY TO TENS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE... ( ...WHICH THEY CONVENIENTLY LEFT OUT). I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN, AND WILL ALWAYS BE, A CHAMPION OF THE GENRE, ALWAYS SEEKING TO... FURTHER IT AND MAKE IT EVEN MIGHTIER THAN IT ALREADY IS. I AM OFTEN BEWILDERED AND SURPRISED AT THOSE WHO ARE SO QUICK TO... PROCLAIM ITS DEATH. I'M HERE TO TELL YOU IT IS VERY MUCH ALIVE AND SCREAMING. I BORE WITNESS TO THE POWER AND FURY OF... ...WELL OVER 12,000 DIE HARD, HARD ROCK AND HEAVY METAL FANS (A NUMBER THAT RIVALS, OR BEATS, MOST OF THE POP, OR HIP HOP, ACTS- ...TOURING TODAY. I AM, AND WILL ALWAYS BE, PROUD TO CALL MYSELF A PART OF THIS GENRE, AND IF I/WE HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT.. ...IT WILL NEVER DIE. DISTURBED IS NOT GOING ON HIATUS DUE TO A LACK OF STRENGTH IN HARD/ROCK HEAVY METAL, FOR THERE IS... ...REASONS AND TO ALLOW THE MUSIC INDUSTRY ITSELF TIME TO RISE FROM THE ASHES AND GO BACK TO WHERE IT WAS ABOUT MUSIC, AND... ARTIST DEVELOPMENT, NOT TRYING TO MAKE SURE YOUR BALANCE SHEET LOOKS ATTRACTIVE TO POTENTIAL BUYERS. OUR LOVE FOR THIS GENRE... AND THIS MUSIC IN GENERAL WILL NEVER WANE, OR DIE. FEEL FREE TO REPOST THIS EVERYWHERE. THAT MEANS YOU BLABBERMOUTH, THE PRP... AND ALL THE REST OF YOU. LONG LIVE HARD ROCK, AND HEAVY FUCKING METAL. THERE IS PLENTY OF POWER AND STRENGTH IN IT. HARD ROCK/ AND HEAVY METAL ARE IN THEMSELVES DEFINED BY STRENGTH AND POWER. WE ARE NOT GOING ON HIATUS BECAUSE OF SOME SUPPOSED "LACK OF STRENGTH" IN THE GENRE. IT IS FOR PERSONAL REASONS AND REASONS...

This is the article David was ranting about: http://t.co/YBHDLO1 The above rant is supposed to clarify what he said I guess.

Well, I wouldn't say he went off, he just got sick of being misquoted and attacked by so many people/fans on twitter asking about this hiatus - some of them are not nice about it :|

since this article is tainted with the fact that it's not that accurate in one area of it, I don't know what to believe of the rest of it, like

"This is really not due to any animosity -- I want to make that very clear," Draiman tells Billboard.com. "In fact, we just had dinner together last night. Believe me, it's not like we can't work with each other any more or we don't get along. This isn't a bad blood thing, and I don't ever want people to get that impression of it."

or stuff towards the end of the article.

It's the first time I've ever heard him be so detailed about this, and I don't know if I should believe the article or not

I've subscribed to Billboard's site for about a year now (or for as long as I've been doing college radio), and this is the FIRST article I've ever seen about the band in that time.

David was misquoted, but I'm going to reserve judgement on the rest of the article because Billboard has been around forever, and are for the most part accurate in their reporting.

This WILL be on the podcast.

Well, since it seems they're believable, I'd have to say I am quite content with the rest of the article.

He finally confirmed there's nothing wrong between them (thank god!) and he detailed a bit more about what they want to do during this break. He also added that they will most likely miss the band, I loved that he said that.

Sooo yeah...I'm feeling pretty ok about it.

^ See Ivy? Everything IS going to be okay! ;)

And go David for laying in about that. Quite frankly, that whole part about the "demise" of heavy metal thing... it didn't sound like David, if that makes any sense. The man can speak a certain way and talk a certain way that when you read his quotes in an article, you know it's him that's talking. That part definately sounded like a misquote, and obviously it was. Other than that, I think the article was halfway decent. And it was interesting to hear a little more details about what might happen while they're on break.

But that was just great on how David just set the fucking record straight! This is why I'm staying loyal to the band even if I don't see another album from them for 10 years!

Heavy metal will never die. Unlike the other genres, metal is a life-style, not just a new song every week. David always speaks the fucking truth. Also, I've never seen a modern hip-hop or rap artist host an event with 50,000 attendees. Metal bands do this on a regular basis

I personally agree with the one about it not sounding like David. He makes what he wants you to know very clear and gives you precise details. When he's talking, that is. But in Disturbed's music, I love how his lyrics could have one meaning, yet be taken into another perspective. Disturbed deserves a break, and they don't need to justify themselves. No matter what they decide to do, I will forever be a Disturbed 1. All said.

Besides, he did NOT go 'off', he was defending himself because the press can be so fucked up and very surely knows how to corrupt. "Who is innocent? No one is innocent in the world today. I shake my head in disbelief..."

You can go off and still be defending yourself.
