On July 13, The Reverend Ian of the KQXR (100.3 The X Rocks) radio station in Boise, Idaho conducted an interview with DISTURBED frontman David Draiman at the Idaho Center Amphitheatre in Nampa, Idaho at the fourth stop of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival.

When asked about DISTURBED's plans for a sixth "Music For A Weapon" tour in 2012, Draiman said, "There won't be a 'Music For A Weapon' tour next year. We don't know what we're doing . . . We're not gonna do our own thing either. This is gonna be the last tour that the American people get to see us in for awhile, if not indefinitely. We have some things going on internally, we have some personal things going on. So I don't know. It's hard to tell. But I can definitely tell you there won't be a 'Weapon' around next year with us on it. If we end up keeping that brand [and possibly 'leasing' it out to other bands to use]… it has kind of become its own entity, it's something we have talked about in the past, and that's possible. But you're not gonna see a DISTURBED tour for awhile."

Draiman talking to KQXR (100.3 The X Rocks) about "Music As A Weapon" and DISTURBED's future plans :

okay before anyone jumps onto the "freaking out because disturbed is breaking up" bandwagon, he said their wont be any Disturbed MAAW VI next year. This is because, Disturbed will be on their break. Their wont be any disturbed NEXT YEAR, he didnt say their wont be anymore disturbed ever again.

Four days earlier, DISTURBED guitarist Dan Donegan was asked by Kevin Conklin of the 93.7 KCLB Rocks! radio station what Draiman meant when he said in previous interviews that he wasn't sure what DISTURBED's future plans were beyond the band's upcoming South American tour.

"We just haven't discussed it," Donegan said. "Right now we just don't know. At this point, we're doing this tour. We're gonna do South America for the first time — like, four shows over there. And that's really all we talked about. We haven't even discussed anything after that. It's not that we're tired of it, either. We don't know what it's like to take a break. 'Cause we've been non-stop, even as a local band, before we got signed. It's really hard to say. I can't really predict, 'cause I don't know what it would be like to go home and then not plan for another tour or plan for the studio. It might be a shock to the system there 'cause it's something new for us. So, like I said, we really haven't discussed where we go from there. So we just said, 'Let's just focus on these two tours we've got coming.' And then that's it."

^ Okay that eased me. I was about to slowly climb in that bandwagon for a sec there. Someone slap me for that (lol!).

I think David shouldn't say the word "indefinetly" in the same sentence as "the last tour" the fans "get to see us in for awhile". He should've explained it the way Dan did, cause otherwise it scares the shit out of the overly-concerned fans.
Do have a tiny little point on that? xDDDD

Everyone needs a break and I think they deserve a nice long time away with their families after busting their asses for 10 years on the road and 15 years as a band. No one's saying 'Yes we're all done.' They're just saying 'We're relaxing and not planning that far ahead right now.'
They all just need to keep saying the same things Dan said in that interview and not cut out the fact that to take a break is a mind-blowing new concept and they're taking their plans one step at a time. It makes more sense to say that than basically saying 'We have personal things going on and we don't know when we're coming back.' That kind of wording creates the paranoid They're Breaking Up Bandwagon.

ok for the first time since i've started listening to this band, i feel tears building up in my eyes

"We have some things going on internally, we have some personal things going on"

why do you guys understand from that?
i'm scared to death that they may be arguments/fights between them.
you think that's what he meant?

i'm kind of speechless right now, i feel like i'm in the twilight zone

what the hell happened? and when?? :((((

This is probably the most complete explanation we're going to get for the time being. They need to take some time off and rest, especially David, because the band has had to postpone/cancel tours/shows because he's just trying to do too much with his voice. That coupled with the fact that David is getting married soon should tell you that he wants the time to just be with Lena, and maybe start a family without the pressure of coming up with a new record, planning a new tour, etc. The others have families, and now that they're getting older, they just may want to spend time with their wives and kids.

As for the "personal" things going on... is that really any of our business?

Someone pointed out that with Asylum, Disturbed fulfilled their contractual obligations to WBR/Reprise, and whether the "internal" things have to do with that, be it renegotiating their contract, wanting to take another direction with another label, or maybe even try to make a go of it with Intoxication as a stand alone label, I really have no idea, since I'm not in the band's inner circle (I wish!).

The main thing is, THE BAND NEEDS A BREAK!

I know I probably sound like a broken record, but if there is something important that Disturbed wants us to know, they will make an official announcement. Until that time, let them finish up with Mayhem and the South America run, then let them decide what their next course of action is. Whatever decision they make, we have to stand behind it and accept that these are their wishes.

Okay?

Thank you Stef.

The day I'll panic is the day I see a headline that says "Disturbed Is Disbanding".

I know it's hard not to stir in your own fear when you wonder what's really going on behind closed doors, but we just need to trust in them and let them have some down time. Nobody panic, okay? If they were trully calling it quits and splitting, they'd tell us.

The comments on that blabbermouth site are annoying. Why cant people just comment on bands they like? What's the point?
Anyway, Disturbed will be back in some way shape or form, i'm sure of it. I reckon we'll see Intoxication break in a few bands in the meantime. Speaking of which, anyone got some ideas as to how I might get my band considered? :P

you can contact David on twitter and give him a link to listen to , he's said numerous times that we can do that

as far as blabbermouth goes, that fight is lost before it even begins...meaning i didn't even bother to read the comments they write because i know for a fact they are all a-holes who have nothing better to do but insult

I see some sad responses on this topic...I know this seems pointless to say since the proof is in the pudding.David and the guys never meant to cause stress upon all of us, the fans...so no matter what happens and how the future's gonna turn out...so far Disturbed has been one of the best music artists in our lifetime....only time will tell how their ending will be.

According to Wikipedia. They say its indefinite Hiatus. So Their you go no tour for next year and maybe the next so it will be at least 2013 til' we see another record from Disturbed.

Alex, had you dug a little deeper, you would have found the article which was referenced: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] They got their info from the Blabbermouth article that CrowX referenced in his original post. There has not been, to my knowledge, an official announcement of this. One interview does not an official announcement make. We've known for weeks now that Disturbed was taking a break. That one interview has been used by a number of hard rock and metal publications, and I used it in the podcast today. Why don't we let the guys finish out the record cycle before we jump to conclusions about the band's future, okay?

I dont know why everyone is freaking out. Disturbed has always taken a pretty long break in between albums. 2000-2002 (sickness - believe), 2002-2005 (believe-TTF), 2005-2008 (TTF-Indestructible), 2008-late 2010 (Ind.-Asylum). This is nothing new
looking at the past... I expect them to make headlines around 2014.

yeah "ShockandAwe" is right they do normally take breaks for a long time probably be back in the studio late 2012 or early 2013 and then tour 2013-2014 and then record a kick ass album and have another #1 album for the 5th straight time. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

^ because we didn't hear them say every break "indefinite break - internal problems " -that's why we are all freaking out

hmmm interesting i thought alot about this I'm thinking that the band wants to try to take a more longer break than usual but if they don't like it they'll probably hit the studio thats what I kinda think but whatever they do is good for them we will all wait patiently as long as they come back in 2013 with a kick ass album and tour cycle. i don't feel good about what david has tweeted today

especially the part where he said "the panic may be justified"

what makes this situation even worse than it is, is that we don't know why this is happening!! it looks like it came right out of the blue. they are so vague about it, it makes us think about the worst possible scenarios

all this is breaking my heart

I agree, you guys should not worry about Disturbed possibly breaking up, and yes we knew Disturbed needed a good long break from music, Because David is getting married & needs to rest his Vocals so he can sing better than ever before, Disturbed is not completely breaking up!
And plus there is no signs of them breaking up, so don't jump to conclusions especially me thought, they will be back, I am sure about like Slipknot, Peace.

Okay, bear in mind the tweet to David:
"@DAVIDMDRAIMAN how did you get this conversation going in the first place? Everyone is in such a panic over it."

David's response:
"THE PANIC MAY BE JUSTIFIED"

This is the one drawback to talking to people online. Just because he said it may be justified, doesn't mean he was giving us mixed signals! He could easily be saying "I can understand why everyone would panic with the lack of information." I tend to say things that get blown out of context online, but if you heard me say it in my tone of voice and read my body language, you'd see that I was just being understanding to your concern. David could easily be doing to same thing because he knows the fans are nervous, but still can't go into detail just yet.

I still wouldn't panic. He's not actually saying 'you should panic' or 'I would panic if I were you'. In fact, he even said to someone else, "I DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING WAS UNHAPPY...I JUST REALLY CAN'T COMMENT"
Keep in mind, we're talking about a cryptic guy who's probably trying his damn best to ease everybody's minds without revealing much and it ain't workin'. He probably can't say anything for legal reasons regarding their contract with Reprise, or at least that's my biggest gut instinct on all this.

Miss Ivy, no panicking, my dear! Everybody's fine, really!! :)
