We are able to cross the Disturbed concert held shortly before the Milan in time to snatch some indiscretion with guitarist Dan Donegan, drummer Mike Wengren and bassist John Moyer of what will be expected relative to the spectacle that would be flushed from there to a few Hours:

Dan Donegan: "Expect the fire and flames. We have some scenes that we never tried before, such as video, textures ... well, things that the public has not seen. "

What do you think of self?

Dan Donegan: "We had a very clear idea of the sound that we wanted to achieve from the outset. In practice we had to do was burdened with the steps that this work behaves like the mix, in short, we worked a lot harder than we used to do and the pressure that we felt we were able to pull off a great album, we entered into the heart games. I do not think we ever needed a manufacturer, we are able to shape themselves to our music because we have also written. We just had to learn some technical details of the study, how to adjust the tone of the guitar, how to understand performance at each other ... and why they choose such a path change from band to band. First of all depends on your skills, there are bands on registration do a great job and then not have any help to shape the piece, or to define the structure of the disc. In our specific case, we face this battle. "

"Asylum" has a very strong a duality that runs on rails, are two equal and opposite concepts.

John Moyer: "The title of this album is intrinsically tied to what David was going through at that time. He called "Asylum": when he was selecting the material to be included in the new album, he was very isolated, was going through a very dark period. Literally the word "Asylum" is the insane asylum, a place where the mentally ill were brought, and this term has another meaning, namely that of a safer place. And 'This is the underlying idea of tragedy, in particular David was thinking of writing that has lost a loved one: the continuous thought directed to this person was doing crazy, but in the end, everyone may go mad when he lost someone he loves ".

In the song '3 'have chosen to tell a news story that has touched America, known as the case of the West Memphis Three: three innocent still are serving an unjust punishment. What made you decide to tell their story?

Dan Donegan: "The protagonists of the piece are three teenagers, considered as a kind of outcasts from the American community built on volumes of the Bible, that excludes you if you dress in black music and listen to heavy metal. They were killed three children and three teenagers were immediately accused of murder without there being any evidence of their guilt. I think that they have been condemned by the community especially, think that one of these guys is still detained on death row. So we want to convey attention to this case, raise awareness for this episode was in 1993. We also want to raise money to help the association in defense of such cases, the protection of the child: for if there is no evidence that directly involves them, it means that they have nothing to do with the crime. They were forced to make a confession, which was extracted in Misskelley, one of the guys who is handicapped. In practice, only have this in hand: this video confession, but all the other interrogations, hours and hours of meetings, seems to have been lost. They held only this fragment were able to extort confession. It 's something we do not want to discard, we hope that jumps out what is behind and bring the attention this case, a revision of all errors committed during the investigation, is the way we do not turn your back on something we believe. "

How do you relate in your stage of composition, who starts, who finishes and who intervenes?

Mike Wengren: "The challenge on the opening riff, basically something that you can anchor the arsenal of material in your hand, something amazing, everyone is there and proceed with great speed, focusing on Dan invents something in his riff, or I, that I jump out with a round of battery. From this alchemy we build the whole piece, often intervenes at this point David would otherwise turn to add some details, but the specific sense it acquires a piece when we engage in all four of its realization. "

For the first time, you have also included an instrumental piece, what kind of path has brought you a choice so introspective?

Dan Donegan: "It 's something that happened naturally. Musically it was the first song we wrote for the record, one that would define the style of the album. We were looking for an original approach to make these heavy riffs, old school, looking for something unpredictable that this vibration would create music, as if we were wandering in exploring new scenarios. I think that this is the inherent meaning of the song, in this sense is a song well thought out. "

It must be easy to lead a normal life because of the enormous fame that you've earned over the years ...

Dan Donegan: "We never wanted to go out and be forced to hide, we want to have fun, maybe run a few bars ... what we do is go around and meet our fans: they are almost always very polite, as we feel them, we , the first of our fans, we were on the other hand, something that has not changed for us. When other bands play in our cities, we are there in the crowd to see the show: sometimes we're lucky and have a better place, but only this! (They laugh). In fact, hiding is not for us. We like to stay in touch with our fans. "

You are from Chicago, how they put things in the music in your town? What does the music scene?

Dan Donegan: "I do not think you can talk about real music scene today with regard to our city. Now we spend our life on the road, on the road and you lose your references, but we should go back in the early '90s, at the time of the Smashing Pumpkins and other alternative bands, then you could talk about the music scene, or band with a distinctly industrial components such as the Ministry, but few others. In short, you have to find something meaningful back to the '80s, early '90s, a time when the scene was really in turmoil. One could say that we have created our heavy metal scene, along with a couple of other bands of the place. We are aware that currently there are many realities in place can create a music scene worthy of the name. "

And in the future, what should we expect from you?

Dan Donegan: "To tell the truth we have not yet spoken, for now we will end up with the projects undertaken: three more shows and we will be back in the U.S. for a summer tour with bands like Machine Head, Trivium, In Flames ... we are concerned take one step at a time and for now is to concentrate on the tour and then we'll see what direction to take. "

Who is anxiously awaiting the next big hit of the band, must resign themselves to wait: the fact Disturbed will take a nice break after the tour in South America, during which David Draiman hopes to begin work on their sixth album. See you next time, guys!

Heavy metal IS a lifestyle, one that you choose to live, either as a band, a fan, or a lover of great music.

While parts of this interview didn't translate to English well, I got the basic idea of what was being said.

God of the Mind
I'm in no hurry for new material from the band. They can take all the time in the world as far as I'm concerned. David should get married and NOT have to worry about writing just yet.

But, to echo our dear Guilty Pleasures, Metal is a lifestyle that one chooses to lead. Personally, I choose to lead it.
