Okay my brothers, my sisters, my blood-- I just got back to my hotel room from the BOk Center, and I am one exhausted, exhilirated, and happy Disturbed girl!
City: Tulsa, OK
Venue: BOk Center, 200 S. Denver
Date: 8 Sept. 2010
Review:
First off, Hell Yeah was not there due to weather and flight delays; I kinda really wanted to see them. However--
The outdoor portion, just the bands and vendors, were moved to the Tulsa Convention Center because it's been raining cats and dogs here all fucking day. No tattoo artists, no wrestling....
I saw two bands there-- one who's name escapes me at the moment. They're from Kansas somewhere, and they're managed by a friend of our own John Moyer. John was there... when I saw him, I casually walked up to him and asked if I could get a picture, and he agreed. He said to wait until this band was done. So I waited patiently. Then he decided about a minute later that he could help me out. I got three pics with him, and he was the nicest guy! I'll post one of them as soon as they're done downloading from my overused digital camera.
The second band at the Convention Center was Hail the Villian, and they were off the hook!
I then headed over to the BOk Center for the four bands that were playing there (Halestorm, StoneSour, A7X, and Disturbed). The first three were great to listen to live. I've never seen anyone sweat as much as Corey Taylor of StoneSour though! He sweat more than Danny did, I think!
A7X was great and they paid tribute to "the Rev", which was touching, though I can't remember the name of the song they played during the tribute.
But Disturbed... what can I say? The video beginning with Remnant/Asylum was incredible! I think I may have stood there four rows from the front with my mouth agape, it was so visually stunning.
Then the moshing and crowd surfing (both supposedly prohibited by the venue...riiiight!) began in earnest, and I have never, ever been so close to so many people all at once! I finally made it to the front during the last couple of songs. I'm sure I'll be covered in bruises in the morning. Right now, I'm covered in rain and beer and Lord knows what else.
It was, by far, the best concert I've ever seen... and Disturbed did not disappoint in the least. My head's still buzzing from all the cigarette smoke (venue is allegedly non smoking, but, again... riiiiight!), the music, and the memories I'll have for a life time. When's the next time they're be here? Better yet... when's the next time they'll be closer to where I am?
I am beat. I'm gonna grab a shower because I smell like a brewery and hit the sack.
The most important thing I take from this experience....I SURVIVED THE MOSH PIT!!!!!! LOL ...my feet are killing me!
Pix when I get home. Promise.
