I know with this being a metal forum that about 99% of the fans on here hate pop music, but I'm going to stick my neck out here and say that I will find myself listing to pop. Now before the hate starts I don't listen to the Mylie Cyrus Justin Bieber bull shit because I have strong feelings on letting 14 year olds into the music biz. I do however listen to the kind that actually is music. Why you may be asking your computer screen because it relaxes me, like classical music does for some. I'm not going to completely bash on a genre because of one or two artist that makes shitty music because if I do that I'm just like those people that bashes on Metal because one or two bands talk about cutting themselves. I give every genre a chance pop may be my least favorite genre but it is still in my favorites. So how many agree or disagrees with me and lets be honest and not afraid of what others might say...

Okay.....the only reason I do on occasion listen to Madonna because I know her tour manager and I got free tickets in the past for her concert tour.....other than that it's [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] BABY!!!!

I listen to pop occasionally but for the most part I listen to Disturbed, and other heavier bands.... I don't get into that poppy sound with a lacing of bubble gum.

I used to listen to the Gorillaz but not anymore. The only pop I listen to now is MJ.

I don't want to be called a traitor for this but I listen to Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears and The Pussycat Dolls even though disturbed and slipknot are my favorite bands and also I have their cds to listen to their music also.

6. AFI's more on the punk side, but they had a few pop stuff such as "Summer Shudder". Idk why but I really love AFI.

I do listen to pop, though it's more the song not the musicians. I mean Disturbed, I just listen to Disturbed, not any particular song. With, say, Lady Gaga, I listen to Bad Romance ONLY. See the difference?

Lady Gaga and the like...my sister listens to them, so I occasionally listen too. But I still like Disturbed better than any pop music.

I know this post is quite old, but I want to clear some stuff up. The only reason he paid the family off is because it was suggested by his insurance company to do so because he had a world tour coming up and he didn't want a trial interfering with that, it would of hurt sales dramatically if he didn't agree to pay them. And about the child porn crap, of which all of it wasn't opened by the way, was fan mail. Being one of the biggest stars in the world at the time, and not having time to look at what people send you, there were most likely a few creepy MJ stalkers that probably drew nude sketches of MJ with little kids or something, or just nude children? I don't fucking know. Oh and guess what? The father of the family that accused MJ of molesting his child in 1993 committed suicide after MJ's death, and that caused the child who is now grown up to come out and admit it WAS a hoax and that they just wanted money.

My whole take on the MJ molestation thing was the majority of people were being mislead entirely by the media the whole time. You have to do whatever you can in the business to make money, and if it means creating rumors and stalking one of the biggest stars in the world 24/7, catching one goofball thing he may have done along the way to sell magazines, then so be it. I think the music speaks for itself how much he wanted to help the world with his music and how he never wanted to witness a kid experience a bad childhood like him. Sure I'll admit having kids sleep in the bed of an adult may sound weird, but MJ's intentions were not what most people thought when they heard that. And yes I am a MJ fan. :D

Now more on topic, I'll admit I think "Hit me baby one more time" by Britney Spears is catchy but thats probably it when it comes to pop. Maybe "Hung Up" by Madonna too, but only for the intro, oh and of course the King of Pop :P

The only artist you've mentioned up to now that I like is Green Day. Maybe the Clash too... I occasionally listen to artists I find great from other genres but none of them are pop. My non - metal sins are many though. Lots of rock, Johnny Cash, Bob Marley, Eminem, some others you don't know and... Classical Music. I got into it from movie soundtracks...

(I almost know Bad Romance by heart, a girl was listening to it all day and for obvious reasons I had to put up with it. Ridiculous song!)
