I'm not a fan of screamo, but I love the instrumentals of the songs. I just don't like the constant pointless yelping into the mic. Does anyone know of a good screamo instrumental band that's available for song downloads?

I know there is a band called SDS from Saudi Arabia that play cover music from very heavy bands like slayer but i dont know if they released albums, probably not as heavy metal is pretty much illegalized in the country

Parallels by As I Lay Dying is good. The verses are screamo though, but the chorus is clean :)

Metalcore? What about 'August Burns Red'? If you don't like the screaming then try 'Mutiny Within'.

I came across this guy yesterday on last.fm--Keith Merrow. He plays instrumental metal...I've only heard one song so I can't give a more specific subgenre. But you can download both of his albums for free of his website which I am doing as I type.

Okay, I'm not sure what "screamo" is... are they those bands whose singer can only be understood when they use profanity? Because I think Ill Nino and TenYears are like that... they were the opening acts the last time (2005) I saw Disturbed in concert, and all I could understand from both of them was "fuck you", "motherfucker"... anything that contained the word "fuck" or derivitives thereof.

But, I really have no idea about "instrumental" heavy metal... I just listen to the stuff I like and can understand more than 50% of the time...

It depends on who you ask. For those not familiar who all the sub-genres of metal, anything where vocals are screamed or growled would be considered screamo. I think screamo is emo, but with screamed vocals, hence screamo. Then there's the core subgenres which I'm not too sure about either, but there are screamed and growled vocals. Musically there are some stylistic differences that distinguish the genres. Death metal has a lot of different sub-genres as well and they have more of those "cookie-monster" growled vocals. There's really a shitload of "sub-genres" and labels people have given metal music as they try to pigeon-hole and classify different styles of metal.

Like so... [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] ...plus the combination of all these and then some.

A lot of people are put off by the vocals. I am for the most part too, but there are a few bands I do like that do those harsh vocals. So for those that don't like those vocals, you can listen to bands that play that style of music, but without the vocals, which I guess is the point of this thread.

I don't like the bands that scream the vocals (i wonder why those guys don't destroy their vocal chords...), but I've listened to a few. Some of those bands are Whitechapel and Goatwhore. Gotwhore, though, has satanic lyrics.

A good band with heavy instrumentals and sick solos is Trivium. They do some screaming but a decent amount of clean singing too. Here's a pair of songs. Songs are A gunshot the the head of trepidation, and Ignition. They've experimented with a lot of vocal styles. From thrashy vocals, to death metal, to clean singing. Ignition is more gritty vocals, and lots of clean stuff. Gunshot is a lot of screaming with some good clean vocals in the 2nd half, plus a face melting, long solo.

Or if you want an ACTUAL instrumental, they've done one, and it's awesome. Here it is:

Another good instrumental metal band (more like a one-man band) I found is called Cloudkicker. Album downloadable for free off their website.
