According to The Pulse of Radio, songs by DISTURBED, KORN, LIMP BIZKIT and others all made a list of the worst songs of the past decade, as compiled by New York-based alternative weekly newspaper The Village Voice. The number one track was "Big Yellow Taxi" by COUNTING CROWS with Vanessa Carlton, followed closely by LIMP BIZKIT frontman Fred Durst's remix of "What's Goin' On" by Artists Against AIDS Worldwide.

BLUE OCTOBER was the highest-charting alternative act on the list, hitting No. 4 with "Jump Rope", while LIMP BIZKIT, KORN, DISTURBED and NICKELBACK all made the Top 25. The list's compilers called the 2000s a "vile, contemptible decade marked by commerce over reason," adding that the decade was "filled with some of the most despicable examples of music inflicted on the world's hearing persons."

Notable rock entries include:

04. BLUE OCTOBER - "Jump Rope"
08. LIMP BIZKIT and JOHNNY RZEZNIK - "Wish You Were Here"
10. FIELDY'S DREAMS - "Baby Hugh Hef"
12. DISTURBED - "Land of Confusion"
14. KORN - "Ya'll Want A Single?"
15. HINDER - "Born To Be Wild"
19. NICKELBACK - "Something In Your Mouth"
25. WEEZER - "Heart Songs"
26. BEASTIE BOYS - "In A World Gone Mad"
27. KELLY OSBOURNE and OZZY OSBOURNE - "Changes"
42. 3 DOORS DOWN - "Kryptonite"

See, this is what I mean by the majority of people being idiots. This is obviously a popularity poll, and DISTURBED (or Metal in any instance) isn't exactly loved in the mainstream. And I notice that Kryptonite made it on this list for the last decade even though it was released in the 90s. I hate stupid people.

here is what the people who made the list said about the song:

"Faith" unleashed a nu-metal pillaging of the Billboard charts circa 1981 to 1988--the era that anyone who's seen five minutes of Family Guy or Tim & Eric knows is the hack's last resort, the eight-year shortcut to instant "nostalgia lols." It's pretty much the comedic equivalent of yelling "Balki Bartokomous" in a crowded room of 30-year-olds. A brief, sad history of this trend: Orgy turned New Order into cheesy disco metal, Coal Chamber shook "Shock The Monkey" in oblivion, Dope covered "You Spin Me Round" so miserably that it made Flo Rida look like Stevie Wonder, Alien Ant Farm moonwalked all over Michael Jackson, Marilyn Manson rubbed "Tainted Love" on his taint, Korn did a grave disservice to Cameo, and people still thought this was awesome. Even at the end of the decade, when the well had been thoroughly dredged, Drowning Pool persisted in letting out a sad "Rebel Yell" to no one in particular and Seether put the "Careless" in Wham!'s "Careless Whisper."

Disturbed were the undisputed shitkings of this trend, opening this sad decade with a wallet-chain-jangling, quasi-rapped Tears For Fears cover they called "Shout 2000" in which they--no shit--sang "Ice Ice Baby" in the background. And they quickly followed it by their cover of Genesis's "Land Of Confusion," a song so bad that it makes me wish puppet Reagan actually pushed the red button and destroyed the Earth so this mutant suck spawn wouldn't be slithering without chains.

To be fair to Disturbed, the vague message 1986's "Land Of Confusion" was kind of perfect in 2005: nuclear anxiety + greedy politicians = everything is kind of fucked. But we're pretty sure Genesis never intended it to be sung by a band who allows Marine recruiters to camp outside of their stadium shows and writes "fight songs" for the troops. And adds gutteral "AHHH AHH AHHH AHHHs" for whatever reasons I cannot fathom.

I had the misfortune of seeing Disturbed twice this decade and can definitively describe frontman Dave Draiman's stage presence as "total dick." Take that as the dual meaning of "a dude who won't even look his fans in the eye as he crosses the aisle" and "a literal giant penis made up of macho posturing, outdated rock god bravado cornballism, and Tarzan-style chants." "Land Of Confusion" is the natural breaking point since its lol-ain't-the-'80s-crazy modus operandi is severely undercut by the fact that dude sings it with the histrionic wail of a Journey cover band. When I saw him do "Land Of Confusion" live he changed the lyrics to "There's too many men, and not enough pussy." I can't make this stuff up.

Superman, where are you now?

It was a joke on Killswitch's guitarist. If the dumbass who wrote this was paying attention instead of complaining about how David is more man than he is he would've noticed this. I hate stupid people.

We shouldn't care too much. The article was written by someone with no taste in music and the writing talent of a ten year old who loves to cuss at any given opportunity.

I agree with the first part with regard to the majority of mainstream music, but I think this was a very good decade for less-popular music, especially for those who have turned off the radio and looked around on the internet or found friends that have done so. Everything on that list was mainstream, so of course the majority is crap, since most of those artists do not make art, but instead are trying to make money--commerce over art and reason.

First off I want to say Land of confusion was originally written by Mike Rutherford, the rock group Genesis did the song in 1986. In my opinion if you listen to Genesis they pale in comparison to Disturbed and back then they played that video to death saying it was a great hit granted it did not make the top 40 in 1986 BUT the song made a statement about how the world was politically constructed back then. Disturbed did a great job with that song and as well as the video and also gives their political opinion and a stand point view on how F*cked up the nation is today.....I do not read rubbish and that's exactly what this chart is.

hahahaha...whoever wrote that is an epic noob! I bet you Land of Confusion is the only song he can name from Disturbed, and it's not even BY them :D Let the noob think what he wants to think, I couldn't really care less. Is it supposed to make us love Disturbed any less? How can he even put them on the same chart as any of that other crap (with the exception of KoRn)?

I say screw him, and screw whatever paper/ magazine/ whatever he's writing for. He clearly has the intellectual capacity of a 6 year old, so let him say whatever the hell he wants. There's alot! more of us than there are of him. Piss on him. As Nomasanarquia's signature says, "United we shall never be defeated."

If he can't comprehend pure, raw talent...well, that's probably why he's writing articles for someone. I say pissed3 him Dancing David

Someone should really poke him in the eye with one of Draiman's spikes

"we are the ones who will open your mind, leave the weak and the haunted behind" David said it best in this line.

This guy who wrote this nonsense definantly doesnt have any taste in music, if he did he would AT THE LEAST appreciate something from this list of musicians who he clearly had some beef with, for some unknown reason. How sad and lonley he must be sittin in the corner by hisself listening to Miley Cyrus and The Jonas Brothers LMAO The Guy

i like music not many other people like, and im guessing im not the only one on this site like that. so im not offended on someone elses opinion, and honestly, i bash a lot of bands that probably would have their loyal fans calling for my head on a stake.

Kings of Leon, you know who you are.

Too bad Land of Confusion is a kickass song by Genesis, and it is even better when Disturbed did the remake.
